Lords of Light! – Wasteland Warriors

Aiiiii-ee!

One of my recent guilty pleasures is Wasteland Warriors – makers of Fistful of Lead.

If you were a kid in the late 70’s to mid-80’s, then this game setting is for you! It’s basically like playing in the Thundarr the Barbarian world.

It’s been a great excuse to bring out my old Delaque models from the original ’90s Necromunda. While in theory, they are supposed to be deadly shooters and horrible in hand-to-hand combat, the dice gods have decided otherwise. I end up missing almost everything I shot at, but anyone that charged me ends up impaled on my rifles or dies from an exploding buttstock (or something like that).

In the end, the few demo games I got in were more than enough to pull the trigger on picking the game up. It’s a fairly simple game system and the cards add a fun random element, yet still allows for a bit a strategy. It’s also cool to get some use out of old models you may have had sitting on your game shelf for years, but also pushes you to paint up some new models or explore a blending of genres you may not typically be able to do for some unique kitbashing.
